Mental Health, Self Harm and Suicide Training - 2 Days - T0131e

Abstract

The course will enable course participants to explore issues relating to mental health, self-harm and suicide risk assessment processes.  Individuals will learn how to respond to those people who choose to self-harm and have thoughts pertaining to suicidal ideation from a risk assessment perspective.  Ways of working with this client group with mental health problems will be explored at length in order to give workers more confidence in their work.  The rationale surrounding self-harming behaviour and suicide will be explored throughout the training in order to address risk assessment issues.  Emphasis will be placed on how to deal with individuals in a therapeutic manner and therefore create a confidence base in this work.
