Self-Harm And Suicide Risk Assessment In Working With Parents Training (1 Day) - T0131l

Abstract

The course will enable course participants to explore issues relating to self-harm and suicide risk assessment processes. Individuals will learn how to respond to those parents who choose to self-harm and have thoughts pertaining to suicidal ideation from a risk assessment perspective. Ways of working with those parents will be explored at length in order to give workers more confidence in their work. The rationale surrounding self-harming behaviour and suicide will be explored throughout the training in order to address risk assessment issues. Emphasis will be placed on how to deal with individuals in a therapeutic manner and therefore create a confidence base in this work. Delivery of this course will include individual and group work, group discussions, case studies and role-play. The course will be participatory in style. The course will run over a one day period.
