Understanding The Impact Of Abuse And Neglect In Looked After Children – Champions Perspective (2 Days) - T0373

Abstract

The aim of the course is to provide course participants with knowledge pertaining to the impact of abuse and neglect on looked after children and what this means for practice. A full review of the range of types of abuse will be analysed in terms of how this impacts on the young person in care. Staff will review methods of practice in how best to support children and young people who are in the looked after system using a therapeutic approach of intervention using a model of therapeutic parenting. Best practice issues will be addressed throughout the training. Emphasis will be placed on providing an in depth knowledge base in order that staff attending the course can act as an advisor to other staff.
