The course will enable course participants to explore issues relating to self-harm and suicide  risk assessment processes.  Individuals will learn how to respond to those people who choose to self-harm and have thoughts pertaining to suicidal ideation from a risk assessment perspective.  Ways of working with this client group will be explored at length in order to give workers more confidence in their work.  The rationale surrounding self-harming behaviour and suicide will be explored throughout the training in order to address risk assessment issues.  Emphasis will be placed on how to deal with individuals in a therapeutic manner and therefore create a confidence base in this work.
