The aim of the course is to train course participants in the process of mindfulness and how this can be used when working directly with clients with substance misuse issues. The course will teach mindfulness-based approaches that are intended to teach people practical skills that can help with physical and psychological health problems and ongoing life challenges around their substance misuse issues. These approaches will be aimed at facilitating us in realising and accessing our existing inner understanding. Two approaches will be reviewed specific to mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). Best practice issues will be adhered to throughout the training.
